WEBSITE DESIGN LEOMINSTER
Small business websites built to be found, trusted and acted on.
If your Leominster business has a website that is not pulling its weight, or you need to get a proper one up for the first time, you have found the right person.
I am Melissa Critchley, founder of Wildcurrant Marketing, based just down the road in Ludlow. I build WordPress websites for small businesses across north Herefordshire and beyond, with SEO woven in from the very beginning so your site has the best possible chance of showing up when local people search for what you do.
There is a package here for every stage, whether you need something smart and professional delivered in a week, or a fully bespoke website with research and SEO done properly from the ground up.

A Leominster website that actually brings in enquiries – here is what that looks like
Most small business owners I speak to around Leominster are not looking for something flashy. They want a website that works: one that makes a good first impression, explains what they do clearly and gives people a reason to get in touch.
The problem is that most websites do not do any of those things particularly well. They were either thrown together quickly, built without any thought for search engines, or are just quietly outdated and in need of a proper refresh.
What you actually need is a site that:
- is clear about what you do and who you help from the moment someone lands on it
- gives visitors enough confidence to pick up the phone or fill in a form
- works properly on a mobile, because that is how most people will find you
- is structured in a way that Google can read and understand
- you can update yourself when you need to, without calling in a developer

These are costed separately so you only pay for what you genuinely need.
How a web design project in Leominster works from start to finish
1. Proposal and booking
We start with a free 15-minute call to talk through your business, what you need from your website and whether one of my packages is the right fit for you.
2. Proposal and booking
You receive a written proposal covering scope, investment and timescales. Once you are happy, you sign the proposal along with the contract and terms.
3. Deposit and onboarding
You pay your deposit to secure your start date. I send you a Trello board that walks you through everything I need from you. Most clients find this takes around four to five hours to pull together.
4. Strategy and research
We hold your strategy call and I carry out keyword and competitor research before planning your site structure. This is where the thinking happens, and it shapes everything that follows.
5. Design and build
I build your site in WordPress and keep you in the loop at agreed stages. You get a Friday email every week with a progress update and anything I might need from you the following week.
6. Testing and launch
I test across devices, check all forms and key pages, complete on-page SEO and connect your analytics before launch. No rushed go-lives.
7. Training and handover
Once live, I walk you through how to manage your site, make straightforward updates and read your data. You leave feeling confident, not confused.
Getting your Leominster web design project started — what I will need from you
The smoother your preparation, the faster and calmer your build. Before we get started I will need:
⭐️ Your logo and any brand guidelines: colours and fonts if you have them
⭐️ Your website copy: the words that go on each page
⭐️ Your images
⭐️ A clear picture of your services and who you are trying to attract
⭐️ Access to your domain and existing website or hosting if there is one
⭐️ Your legal pages: privacy policy, cookies and terms
Stuck on any of those? Let me know and I can point you towards trusted copywriters, photographers and brand designers, or help you put a simple plan together to get there.
What your web design package does not cover – no surprises
➤ Branding or a full visual rebrand
➤ Copywriting as part of the standard fee
➤ Photography or image sourcing
➤ Creating your legal policies from scratch
➤ Ongoing SEO retainers or ad management, unless added as a separate service
➤ Third-party subscription costs: apps, plugins and tools
Why every Leominster website I build starts with SEO, not design
A lot of web designers start with how a site looks. I start with how it will be found.
That might sound like a small difference but it changes everything. A site that looks great but sits on page three of Google is not doing its job. And for small businesses in Leominster, being visible in local search is often the difference between a steady stream of enquiries and a very quiet inbox.
That is why every project I take on includes:
- Keyword and competitor research so we are targeting the right terms from day one
- A site structure that makes sense to both people and search engines
- Fast, mobile-first performance because Google pays attention to both
- On-page optimisation written for your services and your location
- Calls to action that give visitors a clear next step
You are not just getting a website. You are getting a business tool that is set up to grow.

Web design for Leominster and the surrounding north Herefordshire area
Leominster is at the heart of north Herefordshire, and it is an area I know well. I am based in Ludlow, just over the border in Shropshire, which means I work regularly with businesses across Leominster, Bromyard, Kington, Presteigne and the surrounding villages.
Local work is always welcome and we can absolutely meet face to face if that feels more comfortable. But if you are further afield, the whole process works beautifully over video call and email. I have clients right across the UK.
The important thing is not where you are based, it is whether your website is working hard enough for your business.
You’re in safe hands
I am Melissa, and I have been working in marketing and building websites for small businesses for a long time. I am thorough, I communicate well and I do not disappear once your site is live.
Most of my clients come to me because they are done with websites that look fine but do nothing. They want something built with intention: a site that reflects the quality of their work and helps more of the right people find them.
- 20 years in marketing, 8 years building websites
- 45 five-star Google reviews
- Based in Ludlow, right on the Herefordshire and Shropshire border
- Every project starts with strategy, not just a template
- Plain language throughout, no jargon, no vanishing acts after launch

As well as north Herefordshire, I work with businesses in Hereford and across the West Midlands
Your questions about web design in Leominster answered:
Do you work with businesses based in Leominster specifically?
Yes, and I enjoy it. Being based in Ludlow means I know the area well and understand the kind of businesses operating across north Herefordshire. That said, the process works just as well remotely and I work with clients across the UK.
I am not sure which package is right for me. How do I decide?
The simplest way is to book a free discovery call. In 15 minutes I can usually tell you clearly which option fits your situation. You can do this by clicking HERE.
As a rough guide: if you need a clean, professional site quickly and have your content ready, Website in a Week is a strong starting point. If you want SEO done properly alongside the build, add the upgrade. If you need more than seven pages or want the full strategic treatment, the Bespoke package is the one.
WordPress with WooCommerce or Shopify — which is better for a Leominster small ecommerce business?
For most service-based businesses in the area, WordPress is the better choice. It gives you more flexibility, it is well suited to content and SEO, and it is straightforward to manage once you know your way around.
Shopify is the right call if selling products online is the main purpose of your site. I will recommend the right platform during our discovery call.
My existing website is outdated. Is it better to redesign it or start fresh?
In most cases, starting fresh gives you a better result. Redesigning on top of an old build often means carrying forward technical problems and poor structure. That said, if you have existing Google rankings worth protecting, those need to be handled carefully with proper page mapping and redirects. This is factored into the Bespoke project quote.
Is SEO included in your Leominster web design packages?
Every package includes SEO foundations: correct page structure, heading hierarchy, meta descriptions, image optimisation and Search Console set-up as standard. The SEO upgrade and Bespoke package go further with full keyword research, competitor analysis and on-page optimisation. Ongoing SEO work after launch can be added as a separate service.
How quickly can you build my website?
Website in a Week is completed in five working days from the point your content is ready.
Bespoke projects take four to six weeks for service businesses and six to eight weeks for ecommerce. The most common reason for delays is content: the faster you can get me your copy and images, the sooner we can launch.
Will I be able to update my own website after it goes live?
Yes, that is important to me. Every build comes with a bespoke video walkthrough showing you how to make common updates yourself. You will not need to call a developer every time you want to change a price or add a new service.
What does hosting cost?
All Wildcurrant websites are hosted on a monthly plan to keep them secure, backed up and running properly. Hosting only is £35/month. Hosting plus management, which includes updates, monitoring, backups and 15 minutes of small edits each month, is £65/month. Management is optional but most clients choose it for peace of mind.
Are there any costs I might not expect?
No hidden costs. Anything outside the agreed scope is discussed and quoted before any extra work begins. The only additional costs that might arise are third-party tools or plugins your site needs, and I will flag any of those before you commit.
