LOCAL SEO SERVICES
local SEO services
Get found by people near you – and turn searches into steady enquiries.
I’m Melissa Critchley, founder of Wildcurrant, a Ludlow-based digital marketing company specialising in web design and SEO for small business owners, artists and creatives. I help local businesses show up on Google and Maps so that more of the right people find you – and actually get in touch.
Whether you’re a shop, studio, clinic or service-based business, my Local SEO services focus on one thing:
more local enquiries from people ready to buy, not just more traffic.
If you need broader support beyond local visibility — content, on-page SEO and AI search optimisation — my small business SEO services page explains what’s included.
Is your business hiding in local search?
Does any of this sound familiar?
- You only appear on page 2–3 (or not at all) when people search “what you do + your town”.
- Your Google Business Profile feels half-done – fuzzy categories, old photos, hardly any reviews.
- You’re getting the odd enquiry, but not the steady stream you’d expect for the effort you put in.
- You rely on third-party platforms (directories, booking sites) and would love more direct enquiries.
- You’ve heard AI search results are changing things, but you’re not sure how to keep up locally.
If you’re nodding along, Local SEO is one of the fastest, most cost-effective ways to fix it without vanishing under tech jargon.
What Local SEO with me actually does for you
Instead of generic reports and tick-box exercises, this service is designed to:
- Put you on the map (literally). Show up in the Google Map Pack and on Maps when people nearby search for what you offer.
- Turn searchers into customers. Make it easy for people to call, message, book or visit – directly from your profile and website.
- Strengthen your AI visibility. AI overviews increasingly pull from strong, locally relevant sites and profiles. Good Local SEO now helps you stay visible as search evolves.
Throughout, I’ll explain what I’m doing and why, in plain English, so you feel in control rather than bamboozled.
How it works
Step 1 – Local visibility audit
We start with a clear picture of where you are now:
- Google Business Profile (or we set one up if you don’t have it yet)
- Website local signals (contact details, location pages, internal links, schema)
- Existing directory listings and citation consistency
- Reviews and reputation
You’ll get a straightforward summary of what’s helping – and what’s quietly holding you back – plus the order I’d tackle things in.
Step 2 – Fix the foundations
Together we’ll prioritise the quick wins and the highest-impact changes. This usually includes:
- Fully optimising your Google Business Profile (categories, services, photos, posts, Q&A)
- Cleaning up and standardising your details across key directories
- Adding or improving Local Business schema on your website
- Tightening up your on-page content so it speaks clearly to local searchers (and Google)
If you need new local landing pages (for areas you serve), I can plan and create those with you or for you – similar to the work I did for Mastercraft Shutters’ area-based pages.
Step 3 – Ongoing optimisation & reporting
SEO isn’t “set and forget”. Each month I:
- Monitor your map rankings, impressions and clicks
- Track which searches and locations bring in the most views
- Review reviews (and help you encourage more of the good ones)
- Make small, regular tweaks to keep you ahead of local competitors
You’ll get a simple monthly report plus a short strategy check-in so you always know what’s happening and what we’re focusing on next.
What’s included
For £1,195 per month, you’ll get fully managed Local SEO including:
- Google Business Profile optimisation & management
So you show up prominently in search and Maps with accurate, up-to-date information and a strong first impression. - Local Business schema & technical fixes
Behind-the-scenes tweaks that help Google understand who you are, what you do and where you serve – boosting your chances of appearing in rich results. - Citation and directory audit (and clean-up)
Consistent name, address and phone details across key directories so you’re trusted by search engines and humans. - Review strategy and monitoring
Clear, simple ways to ask for more reviews – and guidance on responding in ways that build trust and support your rankings. - On-page content tweaks for local relevance
Refining key pages so they reflect your location(s), your services and the phrases real people are searching for. - Monthly performance reports + strategy session
No fluff, no jargon. Just “here’s what’s changed, here’s what it means, here’s what we’re doing next.”
Minimum 3-month initial commitment
SEO takes time. Three months is usually enough to see clear movement in map views, visibility and enquiries – after that we can decide together what ongoing support you need.
Who this service is for
This Local SEO service is a good fit if you:
Prefer clear explanations over jargon and big-agency fluff
Serve customers in a specific town, city or region
Have a physical location or travel to your clients within a clear area
Want more direct enquiries (not just bookings via third-party platforms)
Are happy to invest for at least three months to see meaningful change
Who it’s not for
- Online-only businesses with no clear local area (you can’t have a Google Business Profile, which is central to this strategy)
- Businesses unwilling to ask for reviews or update photos/info occasionally
- Anyone looking for “overnight” results or guaranteed rankings
If that’s you, we can look at a different SEO approach instead – for instance, my broader Small Business SEO & AI Search Optimisation service.
Local SEO and AI search – why now matters
AI is changing how Google shows results. Increasingly, AI overviews blend:
- Page-one websites
- Strong, relevant Google Business Profiles
- Local results near the person searching
That means:
If you’re strong locally, you’re more likely to be shown in these new AI panels as well.
Local SEO is no longer just “nice for maps” – it’s part of how you stay visible across traditional and AI-driven search.
FAQs
How quickly will I see results?
You’ll usually see movement in map views and impressions within the first 4–8 weeks, with stronger improvements in rankings and enquiries over 3–6 months. No one can ethically “guarantee” rankings, but we’ll track clear, concrete progress each month.
Can you help if I don’t have a Google Business Profile yet?
Yes. If you’re eligible, we’ll set it up and optimise it as part of Step 1. If you’re not eligible, I’ll be honest with you and suggest an alternative approach.
What if I have more than one location?
We can absolutely work across multiple locations; we’ll agree a sensible priority order so we’re not spreading your budget too thinly.
Do I need a new website first?
Not always. Part of the audit includes a quick review of whether your current website can support good Local SEO. If big changes are needed, I’ll let you know . If it turns out your site can’t properly support local visibility, I’ll recommend the most sensible next step — which might be a full small business website design rebuild rather than patching what’s already there.
Can we start with a one-off review?
If you’re not ready for a full three-month engagement, you can book a Marketing & SEO Power Hour to get clarity on your local visibility and next steps.
