Web Design Case Study: Writers Inc
A professional WordPress website design with keyword research and full SEO.
CLIENT SNAPSHOT:
Writers Inc is a writer’s retreat business run by husband-and-wife duo Jane Sanderson and Brian Viner. Jane is a published novelist whose work has recently been adapted into a BBC television series, while Brian is both a novelist and journalist.
Together, they offer bespoke, high-quality retreats for emerging and established writers.
THE PROBLEM:
Jane and Brian had built their own website to launch Writers Inc, but it wasn’t helping their business grow. The site was a single page, which meant it couldn’t be effectively optimised for SEO – a critical issue for a new business relying on search visibility to fill retreats.
With no SEO strategy and limited content, their reach was minimal and bookings were slow.
MY APPROACH:
I began with two in-depth, in-person strategy sessions, where we explored their short- and long-term goals. These conversations laid the foundation for a full rebrand and a completely redesigned website.
The project focused heavily on SEO – building a multi-page site structured to support strong, targeted search engine optimisation from day one. The design reflects the professionalism of their offering while clearly communicating what makes their retreats stand out.
To support their marketing, I also set up an email system using MailerLite, including an email sales funnel for new subscribers.
I advised on best practices for their Google Business Profile and provided tailored examples to help them manage it effectively for visibility and conversion.
THE TRANSFORMATION
The new site is clean, engaging, and SEO-optimised, helping Writers Inc reach the right audience quickly.
Since launching, Jane and Brian have run two fully booked retreats, and as of November 2025, they have just one space left for their next event in January. Their business has gone from fledgling to flourishing.
